Since he was born I knew that Ron would be special. A special thank has to go to Janet Cook of Abymoon for loaning his mother Bukhara to us. It was a mating made in heaven, the one between Rowan (Tr Sp Ch Baranchri Vanillapod) and Bukhara, that will be repeated one more time in the future.
The first litter was incredible. There were 3 boys and a girl, 3 Ruddies and a Sorrel. How the litter ended up with their names is a story in itself; My daughter Stephanie decided that she wanted to call one of the ruddy boys Ronald Weasley, fo course I said to her that Ron is a red head, so the Sorrel would have to be Ron. She agreed and we named the rest of the litter after Harry Potter characters. They included Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Draco Malfoy (later to be changed to Severus Snape) and, of course, Ronald Weasley.
What these kittens managed to achieve in 1 showing season was incredible. Their mother became broodqueen of the year, thanks to their exploits in the SACC showing calendar. Hermione and Severus Snape qualified for SACC Cat of the Year. Ron and Severus both qualified for CFSA Cat of the year being place 4th and 2nd respectively in their categories. Sevi also was place 15th in the neuter section for SACC! All of them achieved their supreme status’ after chean sweeps. Needless to say we were very proud of them.
In 2018, we decided not to campaign too hard and only attended a handful of shows (3 in Gauteng and 1 in Kimberly), however Ron still managed to qualify for SACC Cat of the Year, having won the Best Foreign Entire in two consecutive shows in Gauteng! He then was placed 10th best Entire in South Africa, to our great surprise.
Away from the show circuit, Ron is the sweetest, most affectionate boy. He is a total pacifist, never picking a fight with anyone. There is always a headbutt or a purr available when needed from him. We absolutely adore him and our lives would be empty without him.
Currently, he has an implant, but we plan to begin breeding with him next year, when it runs out. Expect some exciting things!!
