Another surprise that was given to us by Valinor Luthien’s Shade. When Varda was a little kitten (up to about 6 weeks), she was so small and so weak we weren’t sure whether she would make it.
In the breeding world, there is a kind of Murphy’s Law that says that the smallest and worst looking kitten/puppy always catches up and catch up she has.
Since she debuted in the kitten classes in SACC shows she has caused a bit of sensation. In her 2nd ever show, at the NC/FS show in Kimberly, she managed to be placed 8th overall in the SACC show and was placed in each of the independent shows on the same day. Her next show was TCS the next week, where, again, she was place in the Best Foreign Kitten category.
Since then she has produced some of the best silver kittens we have ever had. Not only that, but she followed in her mother and grand mother’s footsteps as the most incredible mother. Not only taking excellent care of her own kittens, but teaching the other queens (like Nymeria) how to look after there!!
She has produced some phenomenal show cats including IP Valinor Belgarion and Valinor Adamanta Took of Winter Garden.
We have retained 3 of her daughters in Valinor Magrat Garlik (who is the splitting image of her mother), Valinor Almarian and Valinor Polgara the Sorceress.
Varda has now retired and is happily living out her days as part of the family and fussing over visitors.
