Sp. Ch. Abymoon Glorfindel

Glorfindel was part of Luthien’s second litter.  Unfortunately, the whole litter got an eye infection just as their eyes were opening and Glorfindel had the worst of it.  The poor boy was totally blind.  We continued to treat all of the litter, who mostly responded to treatment, except Glorfindel. By the time, we managed to get the infection under control we thought he was totally blind and decided that our only option was to keep him as a pet.

What a surprise he turned out to be.  Firstly, by the time he hit about 4 months we could see that his left eye was totally unharmed by the infection, but he had a huge scar on his right cornea.  He and Ronald Weasley become best of friends, so we decided to take him with whenever we took Ron to a show – to help Ron relax. He absolutely loved the attention, so after a show or two, we decided to enter his – just for fun.

What a surprise he ended up being.  Firstly, he is such a busy boy that it is almost impossible to hold him, however he LOVES climbing in bags.  So, we always present him to the judges in a shopping bag, which has become one of his defining features at shows.  This elicits  many giggles and pointing from the public.

In spite of his scar, he has managed to achieve Supreme Premier status.  He loves going to the shows and gets rather grumpy when he realises that I’m preparing other cats to go and not him.  Either way, he is one of our lovely neuters that fills our days with joy and our nights with warm foot pillows and loving claws.

Glorfindel crossed the rainbow bridge suddenly on the 12th of Marc 2026. There is a hole in our lives now, where he used to be. We will forever miss his greetings when we got home and his demands for hugs or entry to our offices. He was laid to rest in the catio with a lovely Lion’s Rose planted above him, so that we can always see him.
